Wow what a storm yesterday here in Europe. We were warned by a weather alarm but I went to Philips anyway. Philips is about 60 minutes by train from my home, and in the morning I completed the trip without any problems. Philips also lies in the southern part of the Neterlands and the storm was not so heavy there. I only noticed the severness of the storm when I recieved some pictures of a building crane that collapsed on the University in Utrecht:

Then I started worrying about my trip home. I tried, together with a colleague from Philips, but I never got back to Utrecht...

The bus to from Philips to Best station and the train from Best to 's Hertogenbosch were still running smoothly. But once we were in 's Hertogenbosch, they cancelled all trains to everywhere, except to Nijmegen, which is not exactly in the direction of Utrecht :) So we went to Burger King, ate some dinner and decided to go to Nijmegen after all because my colleague knew some girl there where we could spend the night.

Once we were in Nijmegen, the dutch railways decided to cancel all trains, but we still needed one to get to our night address... All busses and taxis were cancelled as well.. But luckily I also have a nephew living in Nijmegen. I called him and it turned out that he lived really close to the station. So we walked there through the storm, avoiding flying building materials and stuff :) He had a nice sleeping couch so in the end I slept very well last night. But it was quite an adventure...

After 6 years of good service, after making at least 3500 photos, I decided to ditch my old Sony Cybershot S50 (2.1 megapixels!! :) for a brand new Canon Powershot A630 (8 megapixels). And it is cool! I have not really taken it out to take some cool photos yet, but from what I've tried inside, it makes sharp, clear and colorful pics, even in low light!

Got up at 6:05 this morning to go to Philips for my internship. Because it was raining I took the bus to the station where I arrived at 7:11. But then I heard a announcement that the intercity service between Utrecht and 's Hertogenbosch was canceled because of a malfunction in the railtrack. I was advised to travel to Arnhem and then to 's Hertogenbosch, costing me more than 1 hour extra. So I took the bus to the university.  I arrived at my faculty at 7:45, earliest time ever. And there was nobody in the whole building :) Luckily all the doors were already opened so now I can work on my thesis right here..

I recieved a letter last week that the building that I live in will be demolished somewhere in the end of 2007 and I have to leave my room before july. I knew this was going to happen someday, when I started living here back in 2001, the building would be demolished two years later. But that got postponed several times. Until this year.

The thing is, I don't like the logo on the letter they send us. Couldn't they make a 'sad' version of their logo?

You might have noticed my color changing wall in the past couple of weeks. I purchased 2 ambient reality effects LED bars that can change color. You can pick colors manual, put on a color wave or let it respond to the colors displayed on the computer screen. I recorded a little demo video today. Check it out!

It is going to be a important year for me, with a lot of changes. I hope to get my masters degree somewhere in june, I have to move out of my flat in june, probably get a job.. So real life is finaly starting for me :)

I spent last week snowboarding in Veysonnaz, Switzerland. There was not really enough snow but there were enough snow machines to keep the slopes in reasonable shape. We had sun the whole week so I got a good tan :) See the pics here.

Yesterday I celebrated new years eve with friends in my home, having dinner and drinking champagne. We also had some oliebollen and went into town around 2 am. I returned home at around 05:30, drunk :) Had a real good night! See the pics here.
