holiday
27 August 06 14:05 bySo you might wonder what I did during my vacation, 'cause I did not post anything about that yet.. Well, that is because I am afraid of flying and my holiday this year involved a flight of almost 8 hours, I was not exactly looking forward to that. But my father prescribed me some medication that calmed me down, and flying went pretty good..
This year I did not join my friends for my holiday. I went together with my parents on a safari around the victoria lake in east africa! And that was really cool! We started off in Uganda, where we visited the Queen Elizabeth National Park and the mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park. We went on gorilla tracking there, that was awasome, we could almost touch the monkeys, so close.
We took the ferry across the victoria lake to get to tanzania, where we visited the Serengeti. Saw lots of wild animals there. Zebras, lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, we saw them all! We slept in tents every night, on campsites with limited comfort. The toilet was a hole in the ground, showers were rare. But in the middle of the national parks and you could hear the hippos, hyenas and lions walk around your tent at night.
From the Serengeti we went to the Ngorongoro crater, we completed our big five there with a black rhino. From tanzania we went to kenya to masai mara, even more animals there, because the wildebeest migration was over there. thousands of wildebeest were just standing around, waiting for the first group to finaly walk across the river ;)
From masai mara we moved slowly back to Uganda, to take the plane home. It was a pretty exhausting vacation, but really really cool! Also because the people were really interested in us, very friendly and nice. While driving, we had to wave constantly to all the people alongside the road. The difference with Holland is huge, if you compare the living standards, houses and so forth, but that makes such a trip double worth it. You get to see lots of wild animals and pretty nature, but you also see how life is over there...

lowlands 2006
21 August 06 23:09 byBack from a weekend full of music, sun, rain and mud aka lowlands 2006. I arrived some hours after the first bands started playing because first I had to work at Philips. Because of that, the train, bus and entrance were really quite. I was lucky that a friend already built up our tent. The weekend started really sunny but on sunday it started raining very badly and it never stopped. The whole terrain turned into one huge mudpool but that never stopped us enjoying the bands :) All performances were in huge tents so..
I saw: !!!, Charlie Dée, DJ Marky, DJ Shadow, Hot Chip, Jawat, The Opposites, Kiddo Cee, Kelly Polar, La Troba Kung-Fú, Macaco, Massive Attack, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Motor, Muse, Pete Philly & Perquisite & New Generation Big Band, The Knife, The Raconteurs, The Streets, Tiefschwarz, Tiga and Urban Dance Squad (with bold artists being my favourite).
